Head Coach Dan Mulrooney

Dan Mulrooney is entering into his third season as the Head Coach of Anna Maria College. Coach Mulrooney was named the Anna Maria Head Football Coach in the winter of 2016.

In 2017, Coach Mulrooney was recognized by the AFCA as one of the top 35 coaches under 35. A group that consists of coaches from all levels of NCAA football (FCS, FBS, Division II, and Division III).

Mulrooney joins the Anna Maria community following three years serving as the Defensive Coordinator at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), in Worcester MA.

Over his three years as the Defensive coordinator at WPI the team grew immensely. Their defense became one of the top defenses in the Liberty League Conference and in 2015 WPI had its best season in 23 years. In 2016, they reached new heights by having its first back to back winning season since 1995. They participated in a ECAC bowl game for only the third time in 126 years.

Mulrooney attended Boston College for his undergraduate degree and was a full scholarship student–athlete for the football program. He played Safety at Boston College and was a part of four bowl games and two ACC Championship games.

After graduating from Boston College in 2011, He finished his playing career with a two-year stint at Stony Brook University. He was the Seawolves leader in tackles in 2011 and was named Team Defensive Newcomer of the Year.  At Stony Brook he won Two–Big South Titles and helped lead the team to multiple NCAA playoff berths. He was a standout player at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Conn. where he was all-state twice and won a state championship.

Mulrooney earned a communications degree from Boston College and a Master’s Degree in liberal arts from Stony Brook.
